I responded to the brief: ‘create your own manifesto’ by creating a set of playful cards. From my experience, I reckon that there are no hard and fast rules to being a successful student and that if you try to implement rules, you always find exceptions to them. My idea was therefore to make an ‘anti-manifesto.’ I wanted to highlight the absurdity of making absolute rules to live by. I communicated this by creating cards in a format reminiscent of the lengthy terms and conditions, long lists of side effects on medicines or the disclaimer small print on offers that are too good to be true. The symbol of an asterisk now instils the feeling that there is a ‘but’ coming up and this was something I wanted to embrace.
